Patricia Taylor

Patricia Taylor was born in Edinburgh but spent most of her school years in Kent. She graduated in German and Sociology from the University of London, Goldsmiths’ College in 1986. Immediately after her degree she completed the RSA preparatory certificate and moved to Italy to work as an EFL teacher. She also since achieved the RSA/UCLES Diploma in TEFLA and a European Master’s in Foreign Languages applied to International Business.
As a free lance teacher she gained extensive experience in ELT and ESP before joining the University of Parma in 1990 to assist with the setting up of the Language Centre. In 1991 she moved to her present job as a language assistant at the Department of Foreign Languages and Literature. She also collaborated with the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia for numerous years and has been very active in the training and testing of junior school teachers learning to teach English also contributing to the creation of a standard regional CEPT examination.
She has recently produced modules for a teacher training online course: Educatio as a Laboratory for Integration, a Multilateral Grundtvig project in 2009 for the improvement of integration approaches and solutions in the educational contexts
She is presently assisting at the General Secretariat of CercleS (Confédération Européenne des Centres de Langues de l'Enseignement Supérieur) hosted by the University of Parma and is also collaborating on the Masters in Marketing Management with the Faculty of Economics and Sole 24 Ore


Ambiti di ricerca e progetti in corso

Her academic interests are centred on applied linguistics, language acquisition and learning skills. She is also an active promoter of the CercleS European Language Portfolio which she has been experimenting since 2004. She enjoys teaching comparative grammar, reading skills, lexis, and business English on the language programmes for the undergraduate and post graduate courses.
